Junius Heights Residents Invited to Ribbon Cutting at Lipscomb May 18
Residents of Junius Heights have been invited to Lipscomb Elementary’s playground ribbon-cutting ceremony, this coming Friday May 18th at 9 am. Our neighborhoods enjoy the playground at Lipscomb, so now is time we say a big thanks to those who worked so hard to put it there. The groups who so generously enabled the playground to be built were the Swiss Avenue Historical District, the East Dallas Exchange Club and the Lipscomb PTA.
Mrs. Gonzalez, the Principal is always reminding us that it is a community playground, so we can show our community spirit by attending. Kids are of course invited and the school is providing some refreshments.
Hope to see you there on Friday.
City Council to Vote on Cement Policy on Wednesday, May 14, 2007
The Dallas City Council will vote on a new “green†cement policy on “Wednesday, May 14. The City Staff has recommended the proposed policy which will allow Dallas to only buy cement from plants that use newer less polluting “dry process†technology rather than the obsolete, dirtier “wet process†production of cement. The proposed policy institutionalizes current practices that the city already uses and there is no anticipated cost increase. Contact information for our City Council Representatives is given below.
