Attempted Robbery
A house in the 5400 block of Junius was broken into on Monday, May 28, at 10:45 p.m. The vandal(s) entered the back yard of the house ( probably from the vacant lot at the corner of Worth and Augusta), broke a window in the house, and attempted to enter. The alarm sounded and the thief/thieves left and nothing was stolen.
The resident was not at home at the time.
Pack(s) of Dogs Continue to be a Problem
A cat was killed by a pack of dogs in the 5200 block of Victor on Friday, May 25. On Saturday, May 26, four dogs were spotted traveling down Parkmont. Several neighbors called, and animal control responded quickly and was able to capture one of the dogs, a blond male lab mix with black molting. The dog caught is probably not the alpha leader of the group and may have a “tag-along†recruit.
The response was quick by the city and one of the dogs was followed by car until animal control arrived. Even so, the rapid disappearance of the other three dogs may suggest the animals hide underneath houses in the area. Please make sure that entrances to crawl spaces are secure.
By now, all residents in Junius Heights should have received a letter from District 14 Council Representative Angela Hunt. Angela’s Office has arranged for a special enforcement team of four officers to be in the area from 12:30-9:00 p.m. daily until the pack of stray dogs is apprehended. Please call 214-287-7935 immediately if you see the dogs. There may be two packs operating in the area.
Porch Thieves Busy
The plant/porch thieves are again active. A small, glass topped table was stolen off a porch in the 5500 block of Worth. The table was noticed missing on Monday, May 28.
