March 18, 2007

Thursday night, March 15, residents in the 5400 block of Worth returning home around 10:40 pm, noticed that the back door was open. The man of the house took out his pistol, chambered it loudly, and announced that whoever was there needed to leave immediately. Someone slammed the back door on the way out. Several minutes later the residents and neighbors on Tremont heard a car speeding away on Tremont. The police secured the house and back yard, searched but found no one. Nothing was taken from the house. It is believed that entry was gained by reaching through the pet door and turning a key that was left in the back door. Did anybody see or hear any suspicious that night?  Does anybody recall an unfamiliar car parked on Tremont about this time?  If so, please call 911 or Keith Allen, our Interactive Community Policeman. His phone number is 214-670-0659. Â

January 30, 2007

This is a very difficult way to begin a crime alert but a body was discovered today (Jan. 30) in the port-a-potty located in the lot where the new house is being built in the 5700 block of Tremont. There are no further details available. The police were on location from about 1:00-3:00 this afternoon doing an investigation. If you saw anything suspicious please call the police immediately.
The police ticketed cars parked the wrong way on Ridgeway on Jan. 29. On Jan. 27, Saturday, an older model silver Dodge truck was parked in front of a gate in the 5400 block of Junius. It was a stolen truck that had its driver-side window broken, was hot-wired, and was eventually deposited in Junius Heights. The police were called and the truck was towed.

5300 Block of Tremont

A house in the 5530 block of Tremont was vandalized the week of May 29. The house was undergoing renovation, was vacant, and was used as storage by the owners. The thieves (i.e., a man, a woman with a child) pried a window open in the back and went in. They lived in the house for several days and tried to sell the contents to a woman who was having a garage sale several blocks away. They destroyed a new sofa, and left dirty diapers and feces in the living room. They also stole lots of things from the house. In addition, they used the house to store other stolen goods. Amazingly, they tried to enter through the back window while the contractor was working on the house; they explained they had lost their keys and were renting the house. The police were called.

The suspects were last seen in our neighborhood on June 3, walking down an alley. The police were notified but were not successful in locating them. The suspects are a Hispanic male (identified himself as Jerry to the contractor), skinny with tattoos on his chest and forearms, is about 6 feet tall, and a woman who is short, about 55, heavy with dark hair, who was last seen wearing a tank top and shorts with a baby in a stroller. If you see anything suspicious, please call 911.
