Attempted Burglary on Lowell Street

There was an attempted burglary in the 700 block of Lowell on Tuesday, December 11. The resident came home about 4:30, walked to the back door to let the dog out, and discovered a burglar breaking into the back window. The burglar had broken through the 8 foot fence, removed the gate hardware to get into the yard, and was drilling to open a back window.

When confronted, the burglar came towards the resident (who was inside the house) but fled when he realized the resident was already on the phone talking to 911.

The burglar was in his early 30s-40s, Hispanic, medium build, looked to be healthy and in good shape, well-groomed, short dark hair with some gray. He was clean shaven, wearing nice clothes and work boots, about 5’4”-5’8” in heights. He was wearing a tan work jacket with a hood on it. There may have been a hood under the jacket. He was described as looking “clean and respectable.” The victim thought he “may have been a meter reader at first glance.”

It is suspected that he chose to break into a smaller window because the assumption may have been a smaller window would not be connected to an alarm system.

Please call 911 if you have any information or see anything suspicious.
