Yard of the Month February 2024
Congratulations to Stephanie Clausing of 5806 Worth, who has won the honor of having February’s Yard of the Month in the Junius Heights Historic District! Since acquiring her vintage 1915 bungalow in 2007, Stephanie, a Louisiana native, has been turning heads with her spectacular Mardi Gras-themed home decorations.
Her home is a testament to her commitment to uphold the traditions instilled by her mother. The vibrant decor, marking the holiday celebration, adorns her front door, porch seating areas, and the snug side patio — a once barren space transformed into a lively hub under her and her nephew’s initiative.
In addition to the festive decor, Stephanie keeps the spirit of Mardi Gras alive by hosting a Fat Tuesday party for her friends, featuring mouthwatering Louisiana staples like étouffée, red beans, and jambalaya.
Stephanie’s affinity for Junius Heights is deeply rooted in her love for its emphasis on historic preservation and its resemblance to the neighborhoods of her hometown. She has preserved the historic charm throughout her home, paying homage to the past and showcasing her role as a responsible custodian of tradition.
We extend our gratitude to Stephanie for adding a much-needed dash of color and vibrancy to the neighborhood during the winter’s gray monotony. As they say in Louisiana, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” — Let the good times roll! Here’s wishing everyone a jubilant Mardi Gras!
