Coronavirus Update / Spring Fling Postponed

Dear Neighbors,

Our Spring Fling, originally scheduled for April 18, has been postponed. Be watching for another day. It may morph into a Summer Sizzler!

As you know, COVID-19 is present in Dallas County and is spread by an infected person either coughing and not covering their mouth or by infecting a surface. It is suspected that the most transmissions are spread through the air. The virus may be active on surfaces for a while. The National Institutes of Health estimates that the virus could survive 2-3 days on stainless steel and plastic and up to 24 hours on cardboard. Copper surfaces kill the virus in about 4 hours. The best remedy is to disinfect surfaces with a solution of 62%-71 % alcohol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide bleach, or a bleach containing 0.1 % sodium hypochlorite. (Figures from the NIH.)

Dallas ISD has closed its schools indefinitely. The District will, however, continue to provide lunches for those who need it. Online learning will also begin next week.

If you know of any resident who needs assistance during this time, please let us know by going to the Junius Heights Web Page (www.juniusheights.org) and click on “Contact Us.” We are here to help.
