When?
Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am
Coffee and donuts at 8:30 am
What?
We are hosting a special training session for the DPD Volunteers In Patrol (VIP) Program. This a joint training between DPD and the DPARD Park Rangers.
The VIP program is designed to enable residents patrol their own neighborhoods in a non-confrontational manner, reporting suspicious or criminal activity. You will learn what to look for and how best to report crimes via 911 or 311. Additionally, information will be shared about special crime-prevention programs in our city!
Through this training, you will be equipped to do your part to make our community safer and to protect yourself, your neighbors, and your family! Don’t miss this opportunity!

Thanks to the Swiss Avenue Historic District’s relationship with DPD, they are providing a special accommodation to Junius Heights residents. Usually you must apply prior to participating in a VIP training, but they are waiving that requirement for us. You will, however, still need to complete an application and pass a background check after you’ve completed the training to receive your DPD VIP credentials. So, sign-up, show up, and stay for the full training!
- Attendance and participation is complimentary.
- Must register to attend.
- The instructors are DPD NPO SCpl Dung Pham and DPARD Head Park Ranger Travis Isom
