Yard of the Month December 2023
The Junius Heights Historic District Yard of the Month for December goes to Andy and Laura Ohlin at 703 N. Glasgow.
Their Mission-style home is an absolute charm, and it’s no surprise that it was previously featured in D Magazine’s “10 Most Charming Houses in Dallas.” Built in 1924 (with its upcoming 100th birthday around the corner!), it was lovingly restored from a duplex in 2013. Laura purchased the home in 2019 and met Andy shortly thereafter. Their relationship started with a dog walk down Swiss Avenue, eventually leading to a marriage ceremony facilitated by our neighborhood’s own Eric Folkerth. Their family now includes their sons Tobin and Reese and pets Loretta and Millie.
Andy takes the lead on their landscape projects with heavy lifting from Antonio Morales. The yucca around the home is a perfect complement to the Spanish architecture. The Chinese Fringe Flower and holly provide a beautiful border along the front and sides of the home, while seasonal flowers offer colorful accents throughout the year.
Congratulations to the Ohlin family, and thanks for helping to make the Junius Heights neighborhood such a great place to live!
